When I was told I'd have to write a Bio for the Website, I thought it could be quite a challenge because I never have a lot to say about myself. I decided to start at the beginning .... I was born a poor black child .... no wait, that was Steve Martin!

I started playing guitar at age 17. I joined my first band called Railroad as a senior in high school and played my first band job a week after my 18th birthday. Railroad didn't last long because once we were out of high school, we all went our separate ways. In 1976, I moved to Wausau and formed a new band called Foursight while I was going to tech school. It was great playing in a band because it meant I didn't have to get a part time job to put myself through school. But of course with any band made up of school kids, we all went our separate ways once school was done.

In 1979, I helped form the band Crossfire from Stevens Point. We played mostly Classic Rock, but of course back then it was current top 40 music. We started out as a four-piece band, but after about a year we added 2 additional members. A couple of us felt that there was more demand for lounge type music, so the band split, and half of us migrated into a lounge band with a new name, Stardust. We were a five-piece band, and official based out of Wisconsin Rapids. We did a lot of the lounge scene like Mead Inn, Holiday Inn and the Parlor Car lounge (for those who remember that).

In the early 1980s, I decided I wanted to be a little closer to home, so I left Stardust and helped form a band from Wausau called Duece Coupe (and yes, that's the way we spelled it). We were an oldies band that did mostly Old Rock and Roll with a little showmanship to go with. We did a 50s set with hair slicked back and a pack of cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve of a t-shirt. And Buddy Holly would make an appearance all the way from Lubbock Texas. And then there was "Rocky the Robin", the Long Tall Texan with his big white horse and his 10-gallon hat, "Wan" the coffee bean picker, and even Roy Orbison. We did all kinds of goofy stuff, but we had fun doing it.

In 1986, I decided to take a break from the band business and left Duece Coupe.
A familiar face took my place and kept the band going, Gunnar Antell. But, for me, being out of the music business was like a fish being out of water, so about 4 months after leaving Duece Coupe, I started a new band called Good Vibrations. Again, we specialized in Oldies music. As with Duece Coupe, we did a lot of the show stuff including a Beach Boys set. As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Our guitar player found himself in a position of having to travel out of town for weeks at a time, so we would have to find fill in guitarists. One of them was a familiar face, Gunnar Antell (see a pattern here?). Though most of the people we found for fill in were some of the best musicians around, not knowing week to week who would be playing guitar, it was difficult to continue in that situation.

In the early 1990s, I decided it was time to find a more stable situation, so I posted an ad at the local music store, and sure enough, a guy by the name of Al Beyer was looking for someone to play guitar and do some singing. I met up with him and his wife Lorri in September of 1992. There seemed to be a sense that this would be a winning combination the first night we got together, and out of that came the band Montazh. We played our first gig as the new band in April of 1993. That era of Montazh continued until New Year's Eve 1999 when I decided once again it was time to get out of the music business. I was replaced in the band by a familiar face, Gunnar Antell (I think I know him).

I stayed out of the music business for a few years after leaving Montazh. But, I was asked to be part of the annual Rock & Roll Revival by a couple of the former members of The Hootenanny Band. So I dusted off the guitar, and started jamming with The Bobby Knapp Band. We didn't really play out much, but we did have a great time jammin' together.

In spring of 2007, I got a call from Lorri & Al asking if I wanted to "sit in" with the band for the summer. I thought it sounded like a great time, so I accepted the offer. Again, the combination seemed to work well, so Montazh decided to take on one more member. I hope my love of playing music and the passion I have for it will show through and it will compliment the existing make-up of the band, and add a new dimension.

During my first tour with Montazh, I had some great fun and made a lot of good friends. Since I left in 2000 I've missed all of you far more then you've missed me.
I appreciate this opportunity to get back into doing the thing I love most ....
playing music!

After a 7-year hiatus, I believe that I am once again .... READY TO ROCK!
